Job Description

SUMMARY

Provide strategic direction and execution of responsibilities focused on growing the business, implementing plans and strategies in line with Albert’s Organics’ culture and goals, as well as the improvement of internal business controls, Quality Control/Services operations, Inside Sales, Procurement, and distribution center financials.  Foster and enhance internal / external customer service and sales performance by achieving revenue and margin budgets

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive DC sales, profitability and relationships through sales and purchasing team management.
  • Responsible for the coordination and control of the business plan, profitability and Albert’s culture within facility.
  • Communicate job expectations, performance goals and Company standards to ensure customer service standards are achieved.
  • Develop, implement and meet financial budgetary guidelines.
  • Interface with customers and assist in troubleshooting issues that arise.
  • Provide strategies and creative solutions to grow existing customer accounts and develop new customer accounts.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement programs.
  • Collaboratively work with other Business Managers on national accounts and inter-divisional issues.
  • Coordinate areas of responsibility between UNFI and respective DCs.
  • Recruit, retain, motivate, coach and develop focused, goal-oriented sales and purchasing team members.
  • Provide leadership and direction to team for improving all departmental functions and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Operations Manager and other leadership members within the distribution center to continuously improve overall performance and customer service.
  • Responsible for observing and ensuring all Sales/Purchasing Team members perform in accordance with HACCP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Albert’s Recall Plan.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a highly ethical manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures; embody these behaviors in a leadership role
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business or Food Sciences-related specialty or equivalent training and experience.
  • 10+ years demonstrated management and leadership experience in a high-volume, produce/food industry environment. 
  • Knowledge of perishable food distribution preferred.  Organics experience / knowledge a plus. 
  • Competent with computer systems and applications, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent presentation and written/verbal communication skills.Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus.  
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and travel as business needs require.

WORKING CONDITIONS      

 

Regularly in an office setting; occasionally required to stand; walk; sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

Regularly exposed to warehouse environment; regularly exposed to moderate to extreme cold;  regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; regularly required to walk and stand; use hand to handle or grasp, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, work in cramped positions, and climb.  Physical requirements include twisting, turning, bending, and ability to lift at least 60 lbs., push and pull up to 60 pounds.  May occasionally be exposed to moving, industrial-powered equipment and occasionally to moving mechanical parts.  

Must possess a commitment to work a varied, flexible schedule to accomplish tasks and meet business demands.  Occasional travel required.
