United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) is looking for an Executive Assistant to support our General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer in Providence, RI. The Executive Assistant will be a key member of the legal organization, and will provide administrative support to the General Counsel.

Key Job Functions:

  • Gatekeeper for General Counsel receiving and screening visitors and telephone calls
  • Schedules executive appointments, meetings, events, travel schedules and reservations
  • Types and assembles a variety of documents including memos, letters, and reports.
  • Composes and edits legal documents, correspondence, reports and other complex documents for the executive staff.
  • Maintains the organization and tracking of departmental operational materials, including but not limited to performance reviews, time-off, and time sheets. Processes expense reports.
  • Provides technical writing support and assistance.
  • Coordinates the distribution of executive level reports and presentations.
  • Promotes goodwill and conveys a positive image of the Company.
  • Communicates with clients on behalf of executives via telephone, fax, email and mail.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Performs special operations and manages special projects as assigned.
  • Assists other administrative personnel as needed. 


Job Requirements



  • Associate degree or equivalent related experience preferred. Bachelor degree highly desirable. 

Required Knowledge:   

  • Understanding of law
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – strong MS PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to read and review complex legal documents

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five to seven years as an executive assistant, preferably in a law firm or supporting a corporate legal executive
  • Strong PowerPoint development and editing skills

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to work well under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to be discreet and handle highly confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Project management skills and well organized
  • Proficient computer skills
