You will play a key role to help us realize our P&C mission to achieve amazing outcomes through our people. You will be the champion for learning & development for our Operations leaders in our three geographic regions (Atlantic, Central & Pacific), working closely with our front-line Supervisors and Managers to help them attain their full potential as UNFI leaders.

A Day in the Life

As a Regional People Development Partner, a typical day might include the following activities:

  • Conduct an onboarding meeting with a new Operations Supervisor to provide him or her with an overview of our leadership development program
  • Facilitate and support the development of a growing catalog of virtual learning offerings for a cross-functional and geographically dispersed cohort of Operations leaders
  • Work with front-line leaders to create and execute individual development plans
  • Navigate different technology solutions to identify themes and key opportunities in learning and development
  • Liaise with national People & Change team and provide insights into current business challenges
  • Stay fresh on leadership best practices through the People & Change Book Club and work together with teammates to apply learnings to our offerings

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate 4-year degree in business or related area of study
  • 3+ years in Learning & Development, Talent Management or other related fields (training facilitation a plus)
  • Experience or familiarity with wholesale distribution or manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience designing and supporting L&D programs for small to medium sized groups, including Learning Management Software (LMS)
  • Strong analytical & reporting skills
  • Ability to succeed working both independently and remotely
  • Continuing education or relevant professional certifications a plus
  • Estimated travel 50%

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain or other related field preferred
  • Certifications / membership in related professional associations such as ATD, SHRM, HCI (S/PHR), etc. a plus

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years related experience in role with similar background/experience, such as HR Generalist / Business Partner / Manager or Operations/Supply chain role with exhibited success in all aspects of people management & talent development
  • System Implementation Preferred

 

Knowledge:             

  • Understanding of wholesale distribution model, ideally with strong UNFI business acumen and understanding of inner-workings of DC environment
  • Prior experience designing and delivering learning/training programs, ideally in a wholesale distribution, manufacturing or retail (non-exempt) environment
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly MS PowerPoint, Word & Excel
  • Strong awareness of HR functions and processes such as performance management, policies/procedures, talent development, employee relations, etc

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • 50%+ travel required to Distribution Centers within geographic region; actual travel will depend on where resource is based Delivery and occasional development of learning & development content and coursework
  • Cultivate strategic relationships key stakeholders across levels & DCs within region
  • Operate at a high level with independence, autonomy and occasionally ambiguous environments
  • Detail-oriented; ability to track & administer multiple learning programs including all logistical aspects
  • Exhibits natural strength as a communicator / facilitator of training programs, meetings, etc.
  • System savvy – can learn and become proficient in new technologies such as LMS, e-learning program administration, video conferencing technologies, surveying tools, etc.
  • Exhibits persistence, dedication and high level of commitment to drive successful behavior / transformational change
  • Explores multiple avenues to continuously learn, evolve and innovate ways of working
  • Default optimistic & positive attitude amidst a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Cultivating influence and credibility with key business sponsors (i.e. Operations Leadership Teams, General Managers, Warehouse Management, HR Leadership, HR Managers, etc.)
