Job Description


Responsible for the oversight and action plan development of merchandisers assigned at servicing accounts within specific geographical areas. Create and facilitate activities at our customer locations as needed. Facilitate communication between the stores and UNFI account management. Order product to increase sales and process excessive products for credit. Foster a team environment, maintain excellent customer service and recap activities for management.  This is a full time position servicing supermarkets in the Atlanta, GA area.




  • Develop and implement action plans to team members with assistance from the Supervisor and/or Account Manager on assigned merchandising projects.
  • Point of contact to the customer on merchandising projects.
  • Responsible for interpreting and facilitating internal reports relating to an assigned project.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Responsible for effectively setting and merchandising UNFI products in an area within a store as defined by the customer or Account Manager.
  • Ability to read, understand and implement store specific plan-o-grams.
  • Utilize merchandising skills to maximize sales, when plan-o-grams are unavailable.
  • Seize opportunities to increase sales through creative merchandising techniques.
  • Ensure project deadlines are met and completed within budget.
  • Extensive travel required within an assigned geographical area. Overnight stays maybe required up to 75% of time based on customer needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective business relations with all customers and UNFI merchandisers and account managers.
  • Order product accordingly and process over ordered product for return to the warehouse.
  • Responsible for related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Review and process recaps of all merchandiser activities and send to the Account Manager upon completion of project.
  • Assist with promotional presentations and sales programs as assigned Account Manager.
  • Communicate regularly with key UNFI personnel on competitor activity, sales opportunities, customer requests and issues of significance.
  • Assist Field Sales Reps on route coverage during high impact sales periods and/or vacations.
  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings and conference calls.

Job Requirements



  • High school graduate or equivalent related experience
  • Valid driver's license necessary
  • Auto insurance levels that meet UNFI requirements 


  • Minimum three years of related experience
  • Prior customer service experience in a retail setting
  • System Implementation preferred


  • Knowledge of MSI unit


  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication abilities
  • Organization skills and attention to detail
  • Basic math abilities
  • Ability to work independently

 Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to get in and out of car multiple times per day and able to spend up to 30% of the day in the car traveling to and from accounts safely in city, rural and expressway conditions
  • Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving and products
  • Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust and dirt
  • Requires lifting of up to 40 lbs.
