Job Description


The Transportation Coordinator II dispatches and monitors delivery of trucks to Albert’s Organics distribution centers.   



  • Dispatch trucks for delivery to AO Distribution Centers utilizing cost- and time-effective routing, negotiating rates, and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate the loading of trucks – call docks, set appointments, manage route plan.
  • Maximize truck utilization while ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Identify and work with new carriers.
  • Monitor freight rates and accessorial charges to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain and review carrier documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve carrier claims in a timely manner.
  • Organize holiday order-load-receive schedules between AITD and the Purchasing Department.
  • Take the lead in organizing annual turkey freight.
  • Assist in weekly reporting.
  • Assist in orienting and training new team members.
  • Ensure transportation carriers abide by the Master Carrier Agreement in accordance with Albert’s Organics Food Safety Program.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a highly ethical manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements


  • Strong ability to process a large number of details in coordinating loading of trucks.
  • Excellent ability to handle high volume of data entry, email and phone calls.
  • Excellent ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook; competent to learn and adapt to new computer applications, system upgrades and other technology as necessary.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to work very effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to provide superior customer service.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective, positive internal/external working relationships with a diverse group of individuals; a team player.

  • Initiative and ability to resolve issues skillfully, appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to learn new things quickly.


BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.  3 to 5 years’ experience working in logistics, transportation, purchasing, dispatch, or customer service.  Minimum 3 years of experience in the food industry; organic produce experience preferred.  Familiarity with produce growing regions, produce pack sizes, and load compatibility.  Experience working with a distributor, wholesaler, retailer or grower/shipper.  English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus.  Valid driver’s license required.
